Welcome back to another episode of Time Out Santa Clarita where we talk about everything Santa Clarita and the surrounding areas! My name is Tami Cicerello with The Cicerello Team at RE/MAX of Santa Clarita. In this episode, my team and I decided to pick three hikes in the area that we had never done and check them out! We’re going to take you along for the ride!

Mount Whitney Canyon Hike

This hike was a relatively easy walk for the most part but be aware that once you do get to the top, you’ll have to do a little rock climbing if you want to reap the benefits of the beautiful waterfall at the end. The trail is 3.4 miles round trip, this includes the extra little bit past the first  waterfall, keep going a little further past the first waterfalls at what feels like the end if you want to see the big waterfall, it is definitely worth it!

Pro- tip: Make sure you’ve got a good pair of shoes because you will be crossing a few small rivers and your feet are bound to get wet.  The best time of year for this hike is during the spring, there is no water most summers.

Arboleda Trailhead

This trail is known for the amazing views along the 4-mile journey! What I personally love about this hike are the incredible views and the extra cardio.  It’s well worth the climb to the  top for the gorgeous views, you can see across the entire valley!

Pro-tip: This trail is definitely steeper than I imagined so don’t forget to bring a bottle of water for when your heart rate starts rising!

Castaic Falls Trailhead

Castaic Falls was a little farther from town than  we expected, about 14-miles past the ramp at  Castaic lake.  The area has such beautiful foliage this time of year.  Make sure you come prepared to get a little wet, there are plenty of water crossings on this trail.   Let me tell you, this hike has it all! There were sunny patches, shaded portions, creek crossings, and even waist-deep water  crossings! Not to mention, at the end of this trail you’ll find a refreshing natural spring pool to take a dip in. I would highly recommend this hike that has it all!

Pro-tip: Pack a towel and bring an extra pair of shoes to leave in the car for after the hike, your shoes will be soaked.  Also, the best time for  this hike is  during the spring since when the water is flowing.

My team and I had so much fun together exploring these three different hikes and each had our own favorite aspects. I highly recommend taking some time to try out one or all three of these trails and let us know which one is your favorite! Thanks for watching another episode of Time Out Santa Clarita!
